Forcast™ at the 2008 PCI Annual Conference
Precision Development was once again in attendance at the PCI (Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute) annual conference. This year's conference was held October 4-7th at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, FL. It was truly a beautiful setting for the event. Thank you to all who stopped by to see us at our booth!
Forcast™ is our performance management software that is built especially for the precast/prestressed industry. It helps you see your operation more clearly, allowing you to understand true costs and profit potential, spot improvement opportunities, and avoid costly mistakes - from estimation through delivery. Forcast™ is customizable to ensure a precise fit with the needs of your operation.
Precision Development Attended 2008 PCI Committee Days
We participated in the 2008 PCI Committee Days held April 24-27 in Chicago. This annual event brought together PCI members from across the country to discuss current and future PCI initiatives.
The sessions included many interesting topics such as the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Workshop. BIM is a particular area of interest for Precision because of the engineering software interfaces we currently support with our Forcast™ Performance Management Software. In a nutshell, BIM supports all sorts of information related to building construction including quantities and properties of building components (such as structural precast). This is related to Forcast because it also manages material details. One can envision an engineer producing a 3D model of a building design and feeding that into the Forcast estimating engine. Once estimated and awarded, Forcast can then manage production activities and transportation logistics.
BIM is very much a work in progress. Understanding BIM and how our precast customers expect to use it is an important step in the evolution of Forcast. We’re interested in helping precasters maximize their efficiency by enabling Forcast to integrate seamlessly with engineering software vendors supporting BIM.
It was great to see familiar faces in Chicago along with the many new people we met.
